English Birth, Marriage and Death Index

The English Birth, Marriage and Death index is gradually being transcribed, and is available on line.  This is a project hosted by Rootsweb to transcribe the index of all births, marriages and deaths in England (including Wales but not Scotland or Ireland). At present the project is concentrating on the period of 1837 to 1903, but some entries more recent than this have been transcribed and are included.

If you would like to transcribe records for this site, let me know and I can soon give you some to do as I am one of the Co-Ordinators for it.

English Census RecordsBirth, Marriage and Death Index

In addition to the English Birth, Marriage and Death index described above, the same group is working on the English census (which includes Scotland, and Wales, but not Ireland) for five of the six census's that have taken place between 1841 and 1891 (1881 is not included as it has already been done by the LDS, and is available to everyone).  Although records on this site are very limited at the present time, what has been completed is searchable.

English Lookup Exchange

Wanting a lookup of English records. Then look at the English Lookup Exchange. This site has a seperate page for each English County. Each page will then be divided up into the towns/villages etc that are in that county. Then it will list who has what records available for the town and can look at it for you.
