Amon "Itaman" SMART
Amon "Itaman" SMART was born on 1 December 1832 and baptised on 23 December 1832 in Moulton, Northampton, England. He came to New Zealand on the Randolph with the rest of his family in 1850. For a while Amon was a labourer in Christchurch, but by the late 1880's, Amon had his own sheep farm near Templeton. He died on 25 January 1913 in Christchurch, New Zealand and was buried on 27 January at the St Saviours Cemetery in Templeton.
He married his first wife Ann FOREMAN on 14 February 1873 at the Prebbleton Church near Christchurch. Ann was born about 1832. She died on 2 November 1905 in Christchurch and was buried on 5 November 1905 at the St. Saviours Cemetery in Templeton. They had no children. Ann was previously married to George Ford BAKER.
Amon married his second wife, Mary Elizabeth LINKWATER on 1 November 1906 in Papanui. Mary was born about 1852 and died on 13 March 1921 in Kaiapoi. She is buried in the Kaiapoi Cemetery. There were no children from this marriage either.
